Are you an optometry student looking for a summer position where you’ll gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a modern, patient-centered practice?

At Prairie Eye Care, we’re a family-owned group practice with four Winnipeg locations, known for combining clinical excellence, advanced technology, and a genuinely supportive team culture. As a teaching site deeply involved in optometric education, mentorship, and interdisciplinary care, we’re excited to welcome an optometry student to join us this summer.

As a summer student, you’ll work alongside optometrists, an in-house ophthalmologist, ocular hygienists, and an experienced team of optometric assistants and administrators. You’ll be exposed to full-scope optometry and gain practical skills that will support you throughout your training and future career.

This role is ideal for a motivated student who enjoys patient interaction, wants to build clinical confidence, and values being part of a positive, team-driven practice.

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities will include a mix of clinical support and front-office experience, such as:

• Greeting and assisting patients throughout their visit

• Pre-testing patients and performing visual fields

• Assisting with contact lens training

• Supporting doctors (optometrists, ophthalmologist and ocular hygienist) during clinics

• Assisting with inventory management

• Reception and general office duties, including answering phones, booking appointments and maintaining a tidy dispensary
